The Bulgarian Citizenship by Investment Programme awards the applicant Citizenship for investing in Government Bonds. This is a fast tracked version of the Bulgarian Residence Programme.

Eligibility fOR cITIZENSHIP

 

  • Be a least 18 years of age;
  • Be a person of good standing with no criminal record;
  • Have been a legal resident of Bulgaria for 12 months before the issue of the certificate of naturalisation;
  • Invest in Government Bonds. You must hold these investments for a minimum of 5 years.

What is the Application Process?

Submissions for Bulgarian Citizenship must go through an authorised agent. The Investment Immigration opportunities in Bulgaria are regulated by Bulgarian law: The Foreigners in the Republic of Bulgaria Act, the Bulgarian Citizenship Act, and the Investment Promotion Act.

Step 1 - Apply for Residency

The first stage is a permanent residency card application, subject to an investment of minimum €512,000. You must be a resident of Bulgaria for 12 months before applying for Citizenship.

Step 2 - Application

You may now complete and apply for Citizenship. Applicants can do this by one of two ways. 

1. Applicants can wait for five years before applying for Citizenship.
2. Applicants can fast-track this process to two years by investing an additional €512,000 (totalling €1,024,000 in Government Bonds). 

Step 3 - Citizenship

The certificate(s) of naturalisation will, if all relevant requirements have been satisfied, be issued 24 months after the date on the residence permit. Bulgarian passport(s) can subsequently be issued.
